Phaser pulses were the concentrated phaser-modulated energy discharges produced by phaser pistols.
Phaser pistols used by the MACOs fired phaser pulses. A pulse could be set for stun or kill. P90 phaser rifles, type 9 phaser rifles, A280-CFE sniper rifles and A-300 phaser rifles also fired phaser pulses. (Star Trek: Intrepid)
