The USS Klingon (NCC-9459), formerly the IKS Klingon, was a captured Klingon K't'inga-class battle cruiser in service to the Federation Starfleet in the 23rd and 24th centuries. Prior to its capture, the USS Klingon was a Klingon ship in service to the Klingon Empire and the Klingon Defense Force. The USS Klingon had entered service in 2271 to the Defense Force under the command of Captain Krase.

The USS Klingon had entered service in 2271 to the Defense Force under the command of Captain Krase. In 2290, the IKS Klingon was captured by Federation forces and entered service with Starfleet. The named was changed to USS Klingon and the ship had a long career over the years. The USS Klingon was still in service with Starfleet, 101 years later in 2391. By that time the ship had gone through many refits to stay up to date with current technology. The ship's duties included partol duty, combat duty and escort duty to ambassadors on missions.
